The short version: cost by resort tier
For a family of 5 taking a 5-day, 4-night trip to Walt Disney World in 2026, plan on somewhere between $5,500 and $8000, not counting flights or a rental car. That covers park tickets, a resort room, and food for two adults and three kids. Pick a value resort and it can actually run more than a moderate one, for reasons most planning guides skip over.
This is pretty consistent for what I'm seeing for my families of 5. Most of the families of 5 I book land close to the moderate number below and can save a bit more once promotions are out and we can apply that to their vacation.
Numbers below are for 2 adults and 3 kids, 5-day base tickets (no hopper), a 4-night stay, and a mid-range food budget. Prices are 2026 published rates, not run through any discount.
Food for 5 people
A 5-day Disney World trip for a family of 5 runs roughly $5,500 to $8,000 in 2026 before flights, landing closer to the low end at a moderate resort and the high end at deluxe. The ticket and food numbers barely move between tiers, so the resort choice is really what decides the final total, and a bigger room at a moderate resort often beats two rooms at a value one.

Why value isn't automatically the cheapest for 5 people
Standard rooms at Disney's value resorts (Pop Century, the All-Star resorts) cap out at 4 guests. A family of 5 either books two rooms or pays for a family suite. Two rooms at Pop Century-level pricing runs about $1,600 for 4 nights, more than a single moderate room with a 5th sleeper, like Port Orleans Riverside's Alligator Bayou section or Caribbean Beach.
Deluxe resorts on the Epcot side, Beach Club, Yacht Club, Boardwalk Inn, also offer rooms built for a 5th guest, but at $600+ a night before any discount, the total climbs fast.
For families of 5 looking for the most affordable option, I steer them towards the moderate resorts (Caribbean Beach or Port Orleans Riverside). But most of the time it makes sense to steer them towards the suites at either All Star Music or Art of Animation. That gives them the space they probably are looking for as a family of 5.
Tickets: what 2 adults and 3 kids actually pay
A 3-day base ticket (one park per day, no hopping between parks) starts at $127 per day for adults in 2026 with highest being $190 per day, with child tickets (ages 3–9) running about $10 less per day. Add Florida's 6.5% sales tax. On average of $158.50 per park day.
2 adult tickets: about $1012.81 with tax
3 child tickets (ages 3–9): about $1,423.37 with tax
Total for 5 people: roughly $2,500
Want to hop between parks in the same day? Add $198–$264 total per ticket for Park Hopper, or $234–$290 for Park Hopper Plus (adds water parks and mini golf).
Most families of 5 usually go for a one park per day ticket, especially if this is you first Disney World Trip. I only recommend park hoppers if the families mention wanting major flexibility to be able to go back to parks to see and experience things whenever they want to.
Bottom line
Disney doesn't publish a single number for this because it depends entirely on how often a family sits down versus grabs a quick bite. Rough per-person, per-day ranges:
Quick service meal + drink: $22–$25
Table service meal (no drinks or dessert): $30–$65
Snacks (churros, Dole Whip, pretzels): $6–$10
For 5 people over 5 days, that lands between $1,100 (mostly quick service) and $2,000 (a table service meal most days). $1,500 is a reasonable midpoint if the family does one table service meal every couple of days.
The 2026 Disney Dining Plan runs $60.47 per adult/night for quick service only, or $98.59 per adult/night for one quick service plus one table service meal (child pricing is lower, and kids are free on the plan for most bookings in 2026). Whether it's worth it depends on how many table service reservations the family can actually land.
In 2026 it is 100% worth it to get the dining plan as right now Kids dine free for 2026! If you're planning any character meals or feeding your kids at all inside the parks, then it is 100% worth it to get it and have your kids eat free. (Looking ahead to 2027 it is still worth is as kids are 20% off and any savings is a reason to get it in my opinion)
Costs this estimate leaves out
Flights or driving. This varies too much by home city to put one number on it.
Lightning Lane Multi Pass. Disney's paid skip-the-line system now runs $15–$45 per person, per day, depending on the date. For 5 people over 5 days, that's $375–$1,125 on top of everything above.
Memory Maker, souvenirs, and the resort gift shop impulse buy. Real, but different for every family.
